NZ in the future

Hello I am Charlotte Jenkins
I am 10 years old

There are lots of trees around now , We go to school at 8:50 and finish school at 2:45.  3,000 people live in Mapua.  In China , parents are only allowed one child and they stop you  having more children.  I am reading a book called Harry Potter by J.K Rowling it is a really good book you probably won't  have Harry Potter books in a 100 years time.  I imagine you will be reading all your books on a screen.

A message for 100 years

At the moment there are heaps of endangered species including: Polar bears, Tigers, Sea Turtles and pandas.
Polar bears live on ice and are a mammal, Tigers have a striped back and can kill people, Sea turtles eat grass and live in the sea. Pandas eat a leaf called bamboo and they are black and white.
I am wondering if there are any Polar bears, Tigers, Sea turtles and Pandas left in the world?
Are there dinosaurs alive where you live because they became extincted way before I was born?!
and finally are there any endangered species left?
I hope you are living a lovely life where you are now!

NZ now and in 100 years

Right now there is 196 countries in the world. There is approximatly 7.055 billion people in the world. I live in Mapua close to Nelson the center of New Zealand which has a  population of 4,447,668. I think in a hundred years there will be hover boards because now the latest scooter, bikes etc tech is an electric scooter that can go to a speed 15 km/h by itself.

Year 5/6 Lit Quiz

In week 8 Emily, George, Molly and myself went to Richmond library to take part in the year 5/6 Lit  Quiz.We called ourselves the Lost Boys. There was also a person who dressed up as Peter Pan. We had three books to read before the lit quiz. They were New Zealand Hall of Fame, The Fly Trap Snaps and Super Finn. We were ment to dress up but we did not know what we were called so we didn`t know what to dress up in. When we got there every one was dressed up so we quickly put on some lipstick on our faces and messed our hair up. There were 10 other teams that had been working hard.
Unfortunately we put our double points on the general knowledge which we thought would be like the tests at school that had a range of questions about lots of books but it was a test about the New Zealand post Awards 2012 & 2011!
We came 7th over all.

All about camp.

Camp makes most people think of fun.
At camp it feels weird to be by myself.
Makes people take risks.
People enjoy camp.

Missing mathletics.
Abseiling is scary.
Running round town is orienteering.
Ahh the big walk is over.
Had fun possum hunting.
All of us enjoyed the dinners.
Using a bow and arrow was fun.

Room 8 camp

During term 2 Room 8 went on camp to Marahau. We did fun and exciting things, lots of people tried abseiling for the first time and it sounded like they really enjoyed it. Andrew our instructor put ropes through our carabinas
and figure eights. They were both connected to our harness. He held the rope at the top so we wouldn't go to fast down. Near the bottom we did a few commando jumps, it was a great experience.

On the last day of camp we spent the day at Kaiteriteri we had rotation groups the options were biscuiting playing mini golf and playing on the playground. We had a great time but the water was freezing. Ellie scored the best score for mini golf. There were 18 tricky holes and #18 was the hardest. We all got one yummy ice block and everybody got videoed going down on the flying fox even our teacher Mr Clearwater.
